Busduct backbone installation for EV Charging

Have you ever wondered how we go about connecting dozens or hundreds of EV Chargers in a building? Running kilometres of copper wiring is expensive and time consuming. Cable trays and copper cables are best installed all in one go. So how do we deliver equitable access to EV charging throughout a large car park, especially if you don’t need power at every space just yet?

The answer is a Busduct distribution system.

Electrify EV is one of the first EV Charging installers in Australia to install the Schneider Electric Canalis busduct distribution system. This system allows us to distribute large amounts of power quickly, neatly and efficiently around a car park. With capacities ranging from 100Amps, 250Amps, 400Amps and up to 4000Amps there is literally a busway EV charging backbone solution for every building.

EV distribution boards require floor space and clear space around them. Busduct is different. Busduct, or busway as it is also known, is mounted from the ceiling or on the walls. No floor space is required at all.

OUR BUSDUCT EV CHARGING INSTALLATION PROCESS

STAGE ONE:
CONSULTATION AND INVESTIGATION

We meet with you to discuss the needs of the strata plan and the goals for the project. Often we will install data logging equipment to measure the existing load to the building. We write a Feasibility Report for you or a Proposal and Quotation for EV charging installation.

STAGE TWO:
INSTALLATION AND COMMISSIONING

We carry out the EV charging installation and power distribution works. Our technicians test the installation and the chargers and commission them onto the Load Management System.

STAGE THREE:
CHARGEPOINT MANAGEMENT AND ONGOING SUPPORT

We monitor and manage the chargers via the enevi Charge Point Management System. We provide training, ongoing support and annual servicing of equipment.

Busduct is extremely fast to install

In fact, we can install 100 metres of busduct EV charging backbone in as little as 2 days. So busduct is neater than cable on cable trays and it is also faster to install.

The real benefit of bus duct systems is that they are offer total flexibility – You can extend the length of the duct any time you like. You can install as many or as few chargers onto the duct upon installation.

If you’re in a strata plan building, you may want to install the backbone now, then let residents choose when to buy an EV charger. When a new EV driver decides to have a charger installed, we can simply clip a power take-off module onto the busduct and connect their new charger. It is a quick and easy process that doesn’t require  you to have a whole lot of cars moved out of the car park (as it would with traditional cable tray systems).

Our most popular EV Charging busduct systems are the 250Amp and 400Amp busducts. These are compact and yet able to handle large numbers of EV chargers when used with one of our Load Management System solutions.

People often ask us whether busduct is suitable for AC and for DC electric vehicle chargers. The answer is yes – It is suitable for both AC and DC charging.
