AC Chargers for EV

The most popular type of EV Charger is the Level 2 AC Charger. AC EV Chargers are low cost, available in variants to suit a wider variety of applications and can easily be installed into existing buildings, especially when used with Load Management Systems.

Many of today’s Electric Vehicles are limited to charging at 7.4kW or 11kW, whilst some vehicles can be charged at up to 22kW AC, which will provide a faster charge.

If you’re thinking about installing EV Charging for a commercial building, for a fleet application, council kerbside charging, parking station charging or shared spaces in a strata building, then a 22kW 3-phase AC Charger is likely the best solution. EV’s limit their charging to their own capability, so if you connect a car that is only capable of 7kW charging to a 22kW charger, then it will simply charge at 7kW.

If you’re installing larger numbers of chargers, for example – for every space in a strata building, then a 7.4kW charging solution is the likely choice. Whilst it is not as fast as a 22kW charger, it makes it simpler to provide charging to all residents whilst keeping infrastructure costs down. If you live in and around the Sydney metropolitan, chances are that your EV battery usually isn’t being depleted too heavily each day, and in these circumstances a 7.4kW charge overnight will certainly ensure your battery is full again by morning.

OUR EXPERIENCE AND OUTLOOK

For parking stations, commercial fleet and council kerbside applications, we often install 2x 22kW Chargers back to back, between a pair of car spaces. Our no.1 selling AC 22kW EV Charger, the Schneider Electric ProAC, has an otional single or dual pedestal mounting. It also has an optional single or dual full metal enclosure for public applications, where vandal and knock resistance is desirable.

Our AC electric vehicle chargers come fitted either with a Type 2 socket, or a Type 2 flexible cable and plug, depending on your application. We can supply the chargers fitted with various lengths of flexible cord as well. We have a neat solution for every need.

AC Level 2 EV Chargers can be operated from your own electricity meter (if it is nearby where you park your car) or from shared / communal electricity along with a billing system called Charge Point Operation software. We have an easy App called enevi which is free for you to download. Chargers which need to be remotely monitored or billed can be subscribed to the enevi platform (contact us for rates).

Electricity costs can then be billed directly to the user’s credit card. Fleet customers may not need billing, but might really benefit from enevi’s detailed reporting, remote management and remote support capabilities.
