In 2024, an upgrade was completed at a Meriton residential complex in Mascot to provide residents with shared EV charging facilities to trial if they would be of use and gauge potential for a larger roll-out. With growing demand for electric vehicles in the building, the owners corporation sought a practical solution that would deliver immediate access to charging while meeting strict compliance requirements.

Our team supplied and installed four 22kW AC chargers in shared parking spaces located near the Main Switchroom, supported by a new 250Amp metered supply from the existing 400Amp spare breaker. The installation included cable trays, sub-mains, individual 40Amp circuits, and data cabling to each charger. A 250Amp EV distribution board and CT metering chamber were also installed, along with a 4G/5G modem and two years of connectivity to ensure seamless operation. For safety and compliance, both automatic and manual shutdown controls were integrated, together with fire sealing and thermal wrapping to protect sub-mains penetrations.

Residents now enjoy access to high-speed 22kW charging in a convenient shared location, managed through the Enevi billing platform with subscriptions included for two years. This ensures that usage is tracked, billed fairly, and kept simple for both the end-users and the strata management. The neat and structured installation ensures that the system is safe, reliable, and easy to maintain.

For the strata, the project represents a significant step forward in future-proofing the building.
