Electrify EV know that having a fast AC charger for your EV installed at home is really important. But you might be wondering how your home switchboard is going to be able to cope with a 32Amp EV Charger, when you’ve already got electric hot water, electric stove and an induction cooktop. Our EV Load-Shedder technology is the answer.
Many homes in Sydney will have a 63Amp Main Switch at their domestic switchboard. You’d ideally like your EV charger to be able to output up to the full 32Amps, but you’ve also got other appliances which need power too, particularly in the evenings! With our Schneider Charge residential EV Charger, you can take advantage of our Schneider Load-Shedder, which pauses EV Charging whilst you’re using other appliances. Once you’ve finished using the other appliances, the Load-Shedder will sense the availability of load capacity and re-enable the EV charging. With the Schneider Charge there’s no risk of overloading your switchboard.
The Schneider Load-Shedder uses data-over-power connectivity, so we don’t need to install a data cable between the charger and the switchboard. It communicates via the existing power wiring!
